What Steps Are Required To Create An Odbc Data Source Name?

Prerequisite: The SQL Server Customer must already be installed on the PC. A SQL Server database, a SQL Server UserID and password must already exist created.

Visualizer is a 32-bit application so the 32-bit ODBC Data Source Panel must exist used to create the Data Sources used with Visualizer.

On a 32-bit version of Windows only the 32-bit ODBC Data Source Panel is bachelor. It tin be establish nether Command Panel>Authoritative Tools>Information Sources ODBC or at the directory\filename "<Windir>\system32\odbcad32.exe" (i.e. C:\Windows\system32\odbcad32.exe).

On a 64-bit version of Windows both the 32-bit and 64-bit ODBC Information Source Panels are bachelor. The 32-bit ODBC Data Sources Console can be found nether Control Panel>Administrative Tools>Information Sources ODBC 32-flake or at the directory\filename "<Windir>\SysWOW64\odbcad32.exe" (i.e. C:\Windows\SysWOW64\odbcad32.exe).

Go along with the following steps to create a SQL Server ODBC Data Source that can be used with Visualizer to access the Capacity Database (CDB).

1. Once in the ODBC Data Source Panel, first click on the Organization DSN tab then on the Add together button.

2. Click on the SQL Server Native Customer driver and then the Finish push button.

3. Enter a proper name for the Data Source in the Name box, a comment in the Description box is optional and enter the name of the SQL Server instance in the Server. In the example the SQL Server example name is the aforementioned as the Windows server where it is located, only information technology's possible it could be some other proper noun. Also the example is an un-named SQL Server example. A SQL Server named instance would have a naming convention of <server>\<instance> (i.e. techsvr2-wal-11\SQL2008). Click Next to go along.
